CONF-BPS 2023

The 2nd International Conference on Business and Policy Studies (CONF-BPS 2023) was a hybrid conference which includes several workshops (offline and online) around the world. Prof. Canh Thien Dang from King's College London, Prof. Arman Eshraghi from Cardiff Business School, Prof. Kristle Romero Cortés from UNSW Business School have chaired these workshops on related topics. CONF-BPS 2023 provided the participants with good opportunities to exchange ideas and build networks, and it will lead to further collaborations between both universities and other societies.

Workshop

King's College London, UK

Workshop Chair: Prof. Canh Thien Dang, Professor in King's College London

The workshop "Sustainability: Latest Research in Economics, Finance, and Management" was successfully held on 8 February 2023 after being rescheduled from 1 February due to a rail strike action at Strand Building, Strand Campus, King's College London, London. The event was well attended by more than 40 students from various departments of KBS and some from LSE. The workshop showcased the latest research conducted in business, finance, economics, and climate change policy in the area of sustainability, development economics, corporate finance, and, gender effects, trade, financial development. The two speakers, a faculty member from KCL, and a PhD candidate at KCL, presented their own observations and literature overviews on the various topics with great engagement from the attendants. The workshop ended with a promotion of a research essay competition open to all KBS students in the topic of sustainability.

Cardiff Business School, UK

The workshop Recent Advances in Behavioural Finance was successfully held on Jan. 25, 2023 at the Postgraduate Centre, Cardiff Business School presented by Professor Eshraghi. The 15 students attending the workshop were mainly doctoral students from the discipline of finance and accounting at Cardiff University. The workshop showcased some of the latest research conducted in the area of behavioural finance and financial technology as well as overlaps between the two subjects. Some of the behavioural topics discussed including examination of market sentiment and emotions in finance, the role of culture and early managerial experiences, the network effects of social media in finance and the like. The fintech topics examined included risk and returns of cryptocurrencies, the formation of crypt bubbles, ICO underpricing and crypto fraud.

The University of New South Wales, Australia

Organizer: Prof. Kristle Romero Cortés, Professor in UNSW Business School

The workshop "Behavioral Finance Factors in Applied Finance" was successfully held on February 3, 2023, at the UNSW Business School, presented by Associate Professor Kristle Romero Cortés. The roughly 20 academics attending the workshop were mainly senior lecturers and associate professors in the School of Banking and Finance. The workshop showcased the latest findings of the effects of behavioral factors in the real estate market. There was a robust discussion about the long-term pricing effects of the Auction sales method and the potential risks involved. The impact of the research will inform both sellers and buyers, and the practical implications show how important it is to consider behavioral factors when interacting in finance markets with asymmetric information.

Online Session

The online session of the 2nd International Conference on Business and Policy Studies (CONF-BPS 2023) was held on February 26, 2023. Prof. Arman Eshraghi from Cardiff Business School, Prof. Canh Thien Dang from the King's College London, and Prof. Kausar Abbas from Monarch Business School Switzerland, Prof. Kristle Romero Cortes from University of New South Wales, Prof. Chinny Nzekwe-Excel from University of Wolverhampton, Prof. Muhammad Abrar from GC University, Prof. Javier Cifuentes-Faura from University of Murcia have given keynote speeches on related topics of Financial Transparency, Financial Integration, etc. Also, we invited authors of qualified papers to deliver oral presentations at the Online Session. Seven authors have presented their studies of enterprise mergers, luxury brand construction, risk analysis, etc. Questions from the audience were collected and answered by the presenters.

Accepted papers of CONF-BPS 2023 will be published in Applied Economics and Policy Studies (AEPS) (Print ISSN 2731-4006) or Advances in Economics Management and Political Sciences (Print ISSN 2754-1169). They will be submitted to Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI), Crossref, CNKI, Portico, Google Scholar and other databases for indexing.
